In partnership with Boost Africa Foundation, ROGZ Academy Youth and Education programmes had an exciting June/July 2025!
BOOK LAUNCH
YearBeyond in partnership with Chrysalis Academy, ran a writing workshop for youth. A collection of their work was published in a book called “Caged No More”. The official book launch took place at Artscape which included readings from the budding writers. We are so proud of three of our Youth Team and our ECD Mentor Anele Kwaza who had pieces included.

LEARNER HOLIDAY PROGRAMME
Our learners had great fun with their Youth Team during the July holidays, playing fun games and doing arts and craft. This included a focus on literacy and numeracy to maintain everything learnt in Term 1.

YOUTH TEAM TRAINING
Our Youth Team attended a further 3 days of training to develop deeper literacy and numeracy skills to support learners during the after school programme. This is vital to keep their enthusiasm and drive on a positive road.

YEBO CONFERENCE
Some of our youth attended YeBo conference for four days at UWC. This brings together youth across the programme to connect through workshops, fun activities, deep discussions and reflections. The focus was on building deeper skills in emotional intelligence, work readiness and active citizenship.
One of our youth, Okhule, had her poem “Caged no more” chosen to be read out at the opening ceremony of over 1000 people – what an honour!

YOUTH TEAM HOLIDAY PROGRAMME
Our Mentors and Programme managers ran a five day programme for our Youth Team where we focused on creativity through rock painting and discussions and talks on mental health, gender and leadership. In ECD we encourage children to paint using their fingers to develop their fine motor skills. One’s hand is like a tree. Your fingers represent branches. They are not the same length and carry different roles (family, friendships, work, health…) but they are all uniquely important. The trunk is your arm and it’s roots are connected to the shoulder. It’s all about growth, life and life in abundance. Our Youth Team also participated in a fashion show where they designed and modelled their creations from recycled materials. We celebrated our first term achievements with a team braai and a silent disco to end off. Much fun was had by all, creating a great vibe of togetherness!

MANDELA DAY
ROGZ Academy received a wonderful scarf donation from Elhanah High School in Sunningdale. Our Youth Team then wrote appreciation notes to all their teachers and learners, and gifted them together with a scarf. The teachers and learners were so very grateful and there were big smiles all around!

THANK YOU
Thank you to our ROGZ Academy Education team, and Boost Africa Foundation for all the hard work – the impact you are making is immeasurable! Here’s to the rest of 2025!
