Recently, the Foundation Phase teachers were given an introduction to the BrainBoosters programme, the catch-up Maths and Literacy programme that Sophakama will use to ensure that all Grade 1 learners are up-to-speed on basic concepts.
The idea is that this way, everyone starts at the same level, as many of the Grade 1 learners have not completed Grade R and/or enter Grade 1 without a proper foundation.
This week the teachers had their training workshop on the programme, which will be piloted at the school in May.
